SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
|
Hunger has no stylistic/school limitations but does have a bent for forms of language-image experimentation with an edge. The best way to understand what we are after is to read some samples and to purchase an issue. We are looking for the highest quality poetry, translations, essays, micro-fiction, interviews, reviews, drawings & cover art that we can find. As far as micro-fiction is concerned we want very tight pieces that fall somewhere between prose poem and short story, usually no more 2-8 pages, e.g. Borges’ work in Labyrinths. |

E-mail submissions are not encouraged but acceptable. Do not send any attached files unless requested, simply cut & paste your work into the body of the e-mail. One last pet peeve, please, please do not fold every page of your mss. into thirds, just fold the pages in the manuscript collectively---having to unfold 10 or 11 pages takes a lot of time and when opening hundreds of submissions it can drive someone insane. Please do not send unsolicited book-length mss. for publication consideration, we do not read them. We solicit book-length mss. from authors ourselves. Books for review are welcomed. |
|
Response Time: 3-6 months depending upon the amount of current backlog. We receive a high volume of manuscripts and try to give each one a proper read: Please be patient. If you hear nothing from us within 4-5 months please feel free to query about the status of your submission. Pays: Copies |
Hunger Magazine appears 1-2 times a year and is 85-100 + pages in a full-color cover, magazine sized format. |
